2009 Cabernet

2009 Cabernet Sauvignon - Yakima Valley

A varietally pure and unusually elegant expression of cabernet sauvignon, this wine boasts fruit from some of the most prized sites in Washington State.

2009 CS Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon
Blend: 100% cabernet sauvignon
Vineyards: Boushey 42% (Yakima Valley), Artz 35% (Red Mountain), Red Willow 23% (Yakima Valley)
AVA: Yakima Valley
Aging: 18 months in French oak, 35% new
Bottled: April 27, 2011
Production: 340 cases
Notes: Brilliant dark ruby in color. Complex, enticing aromas of sweet black fruit (crushed blackcurrant, black cherry, blackberry), blueberry, violet, lavender, dried herbs (thyme), and baking spice, with hints of earth, tar and leather. Supple texture with fresh mid-palate acidity and nicely integrated alcohol. Medium-weight with restrained opulence, showing flavors of black fruits, black cherry, cassis, anise, and hints of leafy herb. Youthful and fresh with a long finish, will benefit from 2 to 3 years of additional cellaring.
Review: 92 points, Wine Advocate, October 2011: "A hint of mint, exotic spices, incense, violets, and assorted black fruits lead to a firm, sweetly-fruited, elegant offering. This well-balanced, lengthy effort will benefit from another 2-3 years of cellaring and will be at its best from 2013 to 2024."
